Phew. So after that marathon of all the stuff I wrote about London, I'll give you another taste of Malaga. Yesterday I was still completely exhausted from London, and I had my University class in the morning. So I got up at 7:30, and went, and had an epic battle to stay awake. Then I got home, took a 20 minute pre-lunch nap, a 40-minute post-lunch nap, and went to class. Not so bad. Fixed all my London pictures on facebook, and then went to a play.
So the play was at Teatro Cervantes, and it was called, "La cena de los Generales." Basically, it's set immediately after the success of Franco's army in beating the Republicans, and Franco wants a victory dinner. Only problem? No chefs, since they're all in prison for their political leanings. So the Lieutenant in charge of the dinner gets them out of prison, and the rest of the play is a mix of a comedy/tragedy. I did understand this general idea of the play, even without the synopsis. But it was hard. Only three of us (plus Borges) went, and we really didn't understand a lot of what was being said. The gist was easy to pick up (that's the funny thing about acting) but all the jokes were lost on us, we only knew someone said something funny when everyone in the theater started laughing. Luckily, there was a lot of comedy that didn't rely on words, so I still enjoyed it. Someday, when I'm better at Spanish, I'd like to see it again.
After the play, Borges took us all to dinner. We went to an Asian fusion place, and it was really good. But the conversation with Borges was better. It was nice to be able to talk to him one on one, and he's actually a funny guy, and was very patient with our fumbled stories of London in Spanish (funny coincidence, he was in London last weekend too, and one of the students with us ran into him in a coffee shop. Biggest city in Europe, and you still run into your professor?). Though he didn't believe that we saw zombies. I wouldn't either, if we didn't have pictures. But we were at the restaurant with him for about 2 hours, and then he walked and waited with the three of us at the bus stop till it came. I do like him better now.
Hmm...other than that, I'm just looking at a very busy upcoming few weeks. My next four weekends are packed: first Sevilla, then Madrid, Segovia, Toledo, and possibly somewhere else, then my mom is coming to visit, and then Audrey's coming to visit! It'll be a really great month basically, but exhausting. I'm getting pumped though.
