The gifts of Venus: Beware

So, another 3 toast breakfast. Always butter and blackcurrant jam, it's delicious. We headed into London again, and tried to see the changing of the Guard. Unfortunately, it would seem that this doesn't happen everyday in the fall. But, I got to talk to some Spanish people, and walked through St. James' park a little more, which is beautiful. It made me miss fall in the States so much. It was the perfect chilly temperature, just enough to make your cheeks cool, but your hands are still warm.

So we're sitting in the Tube. And who happens to sit next to us? FOUR ZOMBIES. I kid you not. So of course we followed them....and find a square filled with zombies. Apparently, I was uninformed that October 11th is World Zombie Day. So we took many pictures of them, watched them do the hokey pokey, that sort of thing.

Then we spent time at Speaker's Corner, which is really interesting. It was established in the middle of the 19th century, to air arguments/grievances/etc. to the public, whilst standing on a soapbox. There was one guy who had an Israeli flag, singing in Hebrew, with pants that had “Jesus is our lord” written on them. There was one man, who was ranting about Britain's morals on drinking, euthanasia...it had a lot of Christian stuff mixed in, but he wasn't making any sense. One man was talking about how we need to just go up to people and tell them we want to get to know them...preaching something about love. There was a Socialist man. There was a man who was from New York, just shouting about telling “those motherfucking women when they are fucking beautiful.” One man had a very reasonable conversation about the beliefs of Islam, and one man did not. Instead, he got into a huge argument about how we can't see viruses, it's a giant lie. And how Allah split the moon and put it back together. What? Yeah. I got into a discussion with a different man about why Islam would forbid homosexuality, which actually stayed very tame and respectful despite our clearly different views. I even shook his hand at the end, because I was glad we didn't get fisticuffs.

After that, it was lunch time at Pret a Manger (we have those in America), and I had an EXCELLENT rhubarb yogurt. Then we went to Trafalgar Square and met Alli and Matt, and spent a little more time in the National Gallery. I saw some of the Cranach paintings, a Da Vinci painting, and other beautiful paintings and The Ugly Duchess, which isn't so pretty (but still didn't finish the National Gallery, it's so hard). Unfortunately, since it's Sunday, that's pretty much all we did. Everything closes early on Sundays. Laaaame.
