There are no funny Spain jokes

Yes, I'm writing a pre-departure post. If nothing else, it relieves some of my abroad anxieties. I'm nervous, I'm excited, I'm scared, and I'm hopeful. And waiting around is the worst. So I started an abroad blog, and realized that there's nothing funny about Spain. How is that possible?

I'll miss Dickinson in the fall, but I'm happier that I'm going abroad. It would feel like an empty semester without my favorite people who've gone abroad or graduated and started anew. And I'm not necessarily sorry that it's that way, Dickinson has a way of forcing you to adapt and throw yourself in a new situation, whether you're excited about it or kicking and screaming. And I really believe it'll be worthwhile.

But what will I miss? Peanut butter. And watching marathons of Lost. Walks in the beautiful Pennsylvania woods (or even just through dark neighborhoods and empty fields). Rain (maybe I should've studied in England...). Double TT. The people I was with.

And what am I excited for? Having the Mediterranean as my backyard. The part after my awkward stumblings through Spanish. Seeing really, really old stuff. Eating paella. Things that I can't quite name yet.

I haven't packed yet...and I have a large number of unfinished details that I should take care of (which is, obviously, why I did this). Fortunately for me, I have 7 days of questionable length to finish.
